How come your kids eat everything? The buffet salad helped!

One of the many ways we have taught Oliver and Emily to try every food, eat (almost) everything and most of all love salads is the salad buffet.

Instead of preparing the salad in a salad bowl, we often put all the ingredients in bowls with a spoon (photo 2) and everyone serves themselves by creating their own dish and seasoning it to taste.

Our rule: there is a minimum number of ingredients to choose and the others are tasted (then you can not choose them).

It's fun, the children practice independence (of action and choice), they are motivated to try new foods (often just to serve them for themselves 💁‍♀️), they don't complain about what they have on their plate because they have chosen it them and learn to eat "mixed" ingredients (children often love separate ingredients, but if you mix them they refuse them).

Plus everyone in the family loves this buffet style of eating!

Some of our favorite ingredients: lettuce, tomatoes, beets, cashews, corn, feta, hard boiled egg, cucumbers, cooked onions, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, avocado, pumpkin seeds ...

Have you ever tried the salad buffet?
